Chocolate Shot Rounds

Chocolate Shot Rounds - Feature

Chocolate Shot Rounds are a fun twist on the normal oatmeal cookie. All the basics are there like butter, vanilla, etc. The twist comes with the chocolate shots or chocolate sprinkles.  I just love cookies made with oatmeal or quick oats, so I was excited to make Chocolate Shot Rounds!

Another twist with this cookie recipe is the rolling and chilling of the dough. Oatmeal cookies tend to be your basic drop cookies, but Chocolate Shot Rounds are actually a refrigerator type cookie. The dough is rolled, chilled, then sliced.

The chocolate shots add the best twist of all! The shots are a fun and tasty addition kids big and small will love! Not only do they add a bit of chocolate flavor, they give the cookies a fun personality and texture.

I’m rating Chocolate Shot Rounds 2-stars for cookie baking difficulty. The extra steps of rolling the dough, rolling in chocolate shots, and then slicing the cookies add a bit of time and effort.

While pulling the ingredients together, I was thrilled to see I had a big jar of chocolate shots! All the recipe ingredients were in my baking pantry, so I was ready to get started without a trip to the grocery store!

Per the recipe, I mixed the ingredients together…finally adding the uncooked rolled oats.

Once all mixed together, I just had to taste the dough. The confectioner’s sugar helps make the dough smooth and sweet; the rolled oats add a nice texture and flavor. Yummy!

I covered the dough with plastic wrap and stuck it in the refrigerator. I was happy to have a 30 minute break to clean up the kitchen and get a few other things done ?

After chilling, the dough was the perfect consistency for rolling. I used a handful of dough, ending up with 4 rolls.

The recipe is specific about the 1 ¼ inch rolls, so I got out my tape measure to ensure I had the right size rolls.

Next, I got the chocolate shots ready. I used a shallow bowl and poured in about ¼ cup shot to get started.

The shots didn’t stick too well at first.

I ended up having to pat the shots on the rolls to cover them completely.

Once I had all the rolls covered in shots, I began slicing the rolls. Slicing the cookies was a little tricky. Some of the shots fell off and also ended up all over the cookie slices. It was also necessary to reshape the slicing into rounds. This wasn’t hard, but I had to be careful as I sliced the cookie rounds, so it took a bit longer than expected.

Finally, I was ready to bake the cookies rounds!

The cookies didn’t change shape much while baking.

I baked the cookies for 25 minutes. This was enough to make the cookies a little crunchy.

The cookies were easy to remove from the baking sheets and place on cooling racks.

I love the oatmeal and chocolate shot textures!

Chocolate Shot Rounds are a fun and tasty cookie that will satisfy your cookie cravings! The oatmeal cookie partnered with the chocolate shot edges are the perfect match! The cookies are small enough to pop in your mouth, and I promise you won’t be able to meet just one!

Chocolate Shot Rounds are a perfect cookie to make for any occasion. They are easy and fun to make, look and taste great!

Enjoy!
